Uniquely for a DC Comics character Harley Quinn’s story does not originate from comics, she made her first appearance in Batman: The Animated Series in 1992. She made her comic book debut in 1993 as Dr Harleen Quinzel as a psychiatrist who worked in Arkham Asylum where she is assigned the Joker as a patient. Using his charm and charisma, the Joker warps Harleen’s mind, and she begins to fall in love eventually becoming his accomplice the supervillain Harley Quinn. Harley Quinn is one of the most famous supervillains in the DC Universe. Instantly recognisable, she has not only appeared in Comic books and TV but has been a prominent character in the Arkham Asylum series of video games and DC’s animated movies. Harley was portrayed by Margot Robbie in Warner Brothers smash hit Suicide Squad. Margot’s portrayal was met with acclaim and has propelled the character to new heights with a new generation of fans.
